Week 2 Days 3 and 4

Day 3 was last Friday and it was Arms and Shoulders. I once again saved AbRipper X for Friday evening after the kids went to bed and it DID NOT HAPPEN! Oh well, life goes on. Today, yes today, was Day 4...Legs and Back.

Instead of catching up this weekend I did no exercise and ate horribly. My new motto is "Bring It hardcore Monday through Friday because it goes to hell in a hand-basket on the weekend." And, I'm ok with that. Today's lunch was a salad and half an acorn squash...supper was broccoli and half an acorn squash...and I just ate some oatmeal as a snack. Legs and Back were accomplished on my lunch break and Sully (my 3 year old son) joined me for AbRipper X...man, he sure whined a lot!

It seems I've run out of exciting things to write about...I think I'll start updating every other day or just when something exciting happens. I'd hate to bore you out of motivation instead of actually motivating.

I just want to add that I feel so much better and came home from work in a terrific mood. Juggling supper, clean up and whininess wasn't bad at all...I blame it on good diet and exercise!

Week 2 Day 2 (Day 8)

Somehow I've gotten messed up on my days, so I'm going to start tracking them by the week and day and then the total number of days. PlyometricsX was today and I still suck at it. I can't wait to see the results from doing it but man, I really suck. Tony says throughout the dvd that you're to land quietly, like a cat. I land more like an elephant...and sweaty, huffing-puffing, elephant. And to make matters worse (forgive me if you followed my blog during my first attempt at P90X) one of the guys in the dvd is doing plyo, also known as jump training, on 1 leg (he has a prosthetic leg)! It is almost as if they are heckling me for sucking so bad. If that guy can do it on 1 leg I should be able to do it on 2, for crying out loud!

Just as I knew I would be, I am very sore in my upper body today...which is fantastic because that means my hard work is paying off. Wouldn't it be boring to workout and never be sore? I just pray that I can walk in my heals tomorrow at work.

Below is a video of testimonials. I love watching these videos because it reminds me why I'm busting my butt to keep my motivation and drive up. I truly LOVE what P90X does for people and I'm not just saying that because I'm a new coach. I want those results. I want to be cut and muscular. I want to look like a bad-butt ;) (my grandma reads my blog). I also truly believe in what Team Beachbody is trying to do. Yes, people are in the biz to make money, but so are doctors, nurses, lawyers, dentists, etc...and they are still helping people. Team Beachbody's motto for 2011 is "END THE TREND", meaning obesity. We all know how much of an epidemic obesity is becoming and we all know the associated health risks that go along with it. Why not try to motivate people into leaving healthier lives? Healthy diets and EXERCISE is the only way to do it.

If you have any questions about P90X, Team Beachbody, or just need help getting motivated please contact me. I'm not here to sell you, I'm here to help and inspire you. If you also want to look like a bad-butt I'm here to help with that too!

Polar Plunge Time

In my post below I mentioned that I was doing the Special Olympics Polar Plunge. We have a group of between 40 and 60 friends and family members who plunge into the icy waters of Thousand Hills State Park in Missouri in mid-February...all on behalf of my daughter, Scotland. We have participated each year since Scotland was born (the inaugural plunge in Kirksville.) This will be our 6th year. Each plunger must raise a minimum of $50 to plunge, of course I've raised my goal to $500 because I'm on the plunge committee and want to win a prize (I've worn out my backpack that I won last year).

The link below will take you to my page, just in case you'd like to learn more about it, join us, or donate to my cause (freezing to death for my dear daughter Scotland.)

My Fundrasing Page

Its Thursday and only Day 6 (should be Day 10)

So I'm a little off track but still sticking with it. A trip to Arizona for work and the threat of the flu are perfectly acceptable reasons to miss a few days. I still have yet to do my measurements and pictures, but surely one of these days I'll get around too it. The last 2 days have made me realize I've got too much on my plate...ALWAYS! Just a few of my items right now are: work, home, regular workouts, building my Beachbody biz, raising money for my Special Olympics Polar Plunge, and all the leg work for a 5K race that takes place prior to the plunge. I'm about to lose my mind. For those of you who are my facebook friends you probably noticed my status stating how horrible I am at multitasking. The older and busier I get the more I realize just how awful I am at it. I really should start cutting back...I'd be a lot more sane!

Back to the workout...today was Chest & Back and AbRipperX. Chest & Back were completed on my lunch break and abs will have to wait til the kids go to bed. I am always so sore after Chest & Back. This is because my upper body is so incredibly weak, not that my lower body is any stronger. Below you'll find a video of Dive-Bomber Pushups...they are the devil...actually I don't even think the devil would advocate these.

And tomorrow is the dreaded Plyometrics. I think I'll down a sugar-free Redbull before I go...you can never have enough pep in your step for Plyometrics.

Where has the week gone?

So my last post was last Tuesday while I was in AZ. Tuesday was the only day I got any type of workout in...and it was only 20 minutes on the treadmill. BOOO! I returned home on Thursday night, worked on Friday and was ready to hit the ground running with P90X. Friday I conquered Legs and Back but skipped AbRipperX due to time. I had intentions to do it at home but then it never happened.

Saturday I went for a run. I accomplished 3.4 miles in 34 mins and considering how long it had been since I ran, I am happy with that. I love just taking off for a run and not over thinking the technicals. For instance, I never wonder if I'm running with or against the wind...until I turn around to head back home and realize I had been running with the freezing cold wind and now my trek back home would surely suck! I survived though.

I had intentions of doing the StretchX video of P90X on Sunday. I was feeling quite tight after Legs and Back on Friday and then my run on Saturday. I don't really know what happened to my day Sunday, but I do know that StretchX did not. Then there was Monday (yesterday). I had the day off and Craig worked. I found myself totally lazy all day and wondering exactly what time he would be home. I'd hate for him to come home and realize I had done absolutely nothing. Once he got home I realized I wasn't feeling the best but didn't worry too much about it. I ran some quick errands and then headed back home. As the next hour or two passed I found myself feeling more and more flu like. My evening ended with chills and hot flashes, dry heaves and no puke, hot eyeballs and sleeping on the couch.

Today is Tuesday. I went ahead and stayed home, realizing that I could probably have gone to work but didn't really want to push it and make others sick...after all, just because you feel ok one minute doesn't mean you won't puke all over the place the next. I was pretty optimistic about my condition until I texted back and forth with my mom...thanks mom. My symptoms are identical to one of her co-workers. Her flu came back with a vengeance and finally ended after 2 shots and trips to the doc. I am not looking forward to this.

I figure the only good thing to ever come from the flu is a few pounds lost. Keep your fingers crossed!

Just a quick update...

So, Saturday we spent the day at Bonkers in Quincy, celebrating our daughter's 5th birthday. Sunday was her actual birthday and we spent the day together, as a family. I had to pack and prepare to head to Mesa, AZ on Monday. So now it is Tuesday...

I'm in 60 degree weather and my dear family is at home, in 7+ inches of snow and dangerously low temps...with the FLU! Yes, I assume our flu came from the germ infected play area that is Bonkers...my mistake!

Any way, traveling obviously makes the workout plan difficult to stick to, and getting ready for my travel got in the way of my pics getting posted. I was able, however, to run a measly 20 minutes on the sketchy treadmill of my hotel tonight. Who knows, I may do it again tomorrow night.

Long story short, I've been busy and my family has been miserable. I miss them and can't wait to get home and take care of the all. My pics and measurements will be posted this coming weekend sometime.

Thanks for reading and best wishes and good luck with your resolutions!

Day 4 and what an exciting day it was

Today I not only worked out (KenpoX, one of my favorite workouts in the series) but I signed up to be a Team BeachBody Coach myself. I am very excited about the motivation that will keep coming my way everyday. Yes, this is a business but I'm not a pushy person. I see this opportunity as a way of self-improvement and focus for me first, and as an earning potential second. I truly believe in the P90X system and feel it can transform your body, your self image and your health. I may have only made it 45 days my first attempt but this time I'm accomplishing the whole 90...then I'll either go for round 2 or give Insanity a try. I plan to have my "BeachBody" ready for summer!

For those of you following my blog and progress feel free to ask any questions you might have. You can ask on here through comments or email me at afisher82@hotmail.com.

My new websites are: (I'm still learning how to use them so please be patient!)
http://www.beachbodycoach.com/COACHCLARK82

Below you'll find a success story from P90X. I've included it because a lot of people may have heard of it but still don't quite know what to expect. This video not only shows awesome results but shows several dvd clips of the workouts too. You'll see that although P90X is a tough workout, it is primarily done in an old school fashion: push-ups, pull-ups, jumping jacks, plyometrics, yoga, kickboxing, etc. You can get in the best shape of your life with very minimal equipment (perhaps some resistance bands-less expensive or weights-slightly more expensive).

As for me, I'm stoked to see where I'll be in 86 more days!

Day 3, little sweat but workout nonetheless...

Shoulders & Arms and AbRipperX was the game plan for today...and it was a success. I didn't sweat much, but then again, it wasn't a cardio workout. I was suprised to have enough time to fit in the abs over my lunch hour (and a half). My new job (that I started in July) allows for an extra 30 mins 3 times a week to workout. Usually I feel rushed and save abs for later in the evening. However, today I skipped the bonus set of the Shoulders & Arms workout, knowing how sore I'll be anyway, and got the ab workout in.

OUCH!! I knew my abs were slightly sore but I didn't realize just how sore they were until I started working them again. At one point I thought I'd have to stop...but I didn't. We'll see how I feel tomorrow.

Tomorrow's workout is to be YogaX...and for those of you who followed me during my first attempt at P90X you'll remember just how much I hate YogaX, for 2 reasons. First off, yoga just isn't my thing. It is very slow and controlled and that isn't my style. Secondly, it is 90 minutes long. As if yoga weren't horrible enough, to do something so horrible for 90 minutes is torturous, to say the least. I will probably just substitute something in its place, perhaps a run. Tomorrow is a busy day at work and although I love using my extra 30 minutes I sometimes feel like I could use the extra 30 minutes at work...YUCK, I KNOW! If I'm going to run a full marathon in 2011 I better start training now...26.2 miles is a very long way!

So it seems that tomorrow is the last day to sign up as a BeachBody Coach. BeachBody is the company that owns P90X. A Coach is a "dealer" of BeachBody products: workouts, supplements, etc. I considered this the first time I was attempting P90X with the dream that I would some day be able to stay home and work the biz full time. I easily get caught up in the hype....not that this is just hype...I have a tendancy to only see the bright side of things and not the extra amount of work. So I'm still seriously considering it. I see it as a way to stay motiviated to change my body and fitness level to what I want it to be, primarily. I also see it as a potential biz, secondly. Yes, I'd love to be one of those people who just make it happen and things fall into place...but that rarely happens for me. I usually end up putting way too much on my plate and then stress out to the point of tears...which my hubby REALLY enjoys! I've just always been the person who has a ton of things going. When I don't I'm bored. But when I do I usually see the breaking point. So for the next 24+ hours the idea of becoming a coach is still on my mind.

By the way, pics and measurments will be up by the end of the weekend. You gotta know where you start to appreciate were you end up.

New Year, New Resolution (AGAIN)

Since I'm currently exhausted and it is already January 5th I wanted to take a quick moment to update you on the year ahead. I will likely update this post later...when the kids are asleep and I'm not fighting it myself.

I have an extensive list of resolutions, with the top one regarding fitness. Here's the list (for now):

~Performing some type of physical exercise no less than 3 days a week, hopefully more like 5 or 6, but never less than 3

~Eating a diet of cleaner, healthier food (me and the fam)

~Being a more patient mom

~Being a better, more attentive wife

~Running a full marathon (26 miles!)

~Learning more about my religion, understanding it more, and living by it daily

~Starting a business that could eventually lead to working from home

and the list goes on...

My overall focus is on being the best person I can be, whether it be fitness, mothering, loving my husband, or helping others. This is what I strive for. As anyone knows, it is much easier to want to do all of this than it is to actually live a life of it. I easily get caught up in hectic schedules, messy meal times, and cranky moods.

My fitness resolution began on Monday. I've restarted P90X from day 1. Day 1 consisted of Chest & Back and Ab Ripper X. It worked and I'm sore. Day 2 was Plyometrics. Man o man do I hate Ploymetrics. I can't jump high and I can't land light. It is amazing, really. I am able to sound like an elephant doing jumping jacks while I only make it a couple of inches off the ground. Today was Day 3 and I've saved it for tomorrow. I had a doctor's appointment today that could have possibly ended with an "annual" exam...no lady wants to go in for an "annual" after having worked all day and exercising. Nevertheless, I could have gone ahead and worked out as no "annual" was perfomed. Oh well, a much needed day off as I am extremely sore. Yea for muscle soreness...its what reminds you that you're doing good, hard work.
